Salaried trainees are employed as teachers as they train and so they spend most of their training time in their employer school. Salaried trainees will teach some classes from September, and this will gradually increase to close to a qualified teacher’s timetable throughout the year. Thursday afternoons are always professional studies lectures and so you won’t do any teaching on this day.
During the course, in the spring term, trainees spend six weeks in another excellent local school teaching to broaden their experience.
Salaried trainees are paid on the unqualified teachers’ pay scale which, starts from £17,718 (once qualified the minimum starting salary for a qualified teacher is £24,018).
